Η Τασούλα Καραγεωργίου γεννήθηκε στην Αλεξάνδρεια της Αιγύπτου το 1954. Από το 1981 υπηρετεί ως φιλόλογος στη Δημόσια Μέση Εκπαίδευση (από το 2007 ως σχολική σύμβουλος φιλολόγων). Έχει εκδώσει έξι ποιητικά βιβλία: Fragmentum αριθμός 53 (Πλέθρον 1986, 1994), Το αδράχτι που ματώνει (Πλέθρον 1989), Διασπορά (Πλέθρον 1994), Ποιητική Τεχνολογία, (Κέδρος 1998), Το μετρό (Κέδρος 2004), Η χελώνα του Κεραμεικού (Γαβριηλίδης 2011), ένα βιβλίο με λυρικά αφηγήματα: Παράμυθοι (Δίαυλος 1996), μια συλλογή δοκιμίων: Στην αίθουσα της ποίησης (Ελληνικά Γράμματα 2001), μετάφραση επιλεγμένων αποσπασμάτων της Σαπφώς: Σαπφώ, μετάφραση –σχόλια (Γαβριηλίδης 2009) και -πρόσφατα- μετάφραση του σωζομένου έργου της αρχαίας ποιήτριας Ήριννας: Ηλακάτη –σπαράγματα και επιγράμματα- (Γαβριηλίδης 2013). Για τη συλλογή Το μετρό (Κέδρος 2004) τής απονεμήθηκε το βραβείο Γ. Αθάνα της Ακαδημίας Αθηνών. Είναι εκ των συγγραφέων του σχολικού βιβλίου Νεοελληνική Λογοτεχνία- Θεωρητικής Κατεύθυνσης (Ο.Ε.Δ.Β. 1998). Δοκίμια και ποιήματά της έχουν δημοσιευθεί σε λογοτεχνικά και φιλολογικά περιοδικά και έχουν συμπεριληφθεί σε ανθολογίες. Είναι διδάκτωρ φιλολογίας (θέμα διατριβής: «Οι νεοελληνικές μεταφράσεις του Αριστοφάνη»). Από το 2007 διδάσκει Νεοελληνική Ποίηση στο Εργαστήρι Ποίησης του Ιδρύματος Τάκης Σινόπουλος. Είναι παντρεμένη και μητέρα δύο παιδιών.
Tasoula Karageorgiou was born in Alexandria, Egypt in 1954. Since 1981 she has worked as a state school teacher of Greek in Secondary Education (and as a school advisor since 2007). She has published six poetry books: Fragmentum arithmos 53 (Plethron 1986, 1994), To adrahti pou matonei (Plethron 1989), Diaspora (Plethron 1994), Poiitiki Technologia, (Kedros 1998), To metro (Kedros 2004), I helona tou Kerameikou (Gavriilidis 2011), a book with lyrical narratives: Paramythoi (Diavlos 1996), a collection of scholarly articles: Stin aithousa tis poiisis (Ellinika Grammata 2001), a translation of Sappho’s selected excerpts: Sappho, translation – comments (Gavriilidis 2009) and – recently – a translation of the ancient poet Erinna’s saved poems: Ilakati – sparagmata kai epigrammata- (Gavriilidis 2013). For the collection To metro (Kedros 2004) she received the G. Athana award of the Athens Academy. She has co-authored the school textbook Modern Greek Literature – Theoretical Field (O.E.Δ.Β. 1998). Her scholarly articles and poems have appeared in literature and philology journals as well as in anthologies. She holds a PhD on philology (title of dissertation: “The modern Greek translations of Aristophanes”). Since 2007 she has taught Modern Greek Poetry in the Poetry Lab of Takis Sinopoulos Foundation. She is married and mother of two children.
Η ΧΕΛΩΝΑ ΤΟΥ ΚΕΡΑΜΕΙΚΟΥ
Ίσως φανείτε τυχεροί, όπως κι εγώ,
εάν βρεθείτε Απρίλη μήνα στον Κεραμεικό,
ίσως τη δείτε ξαφνικά
να σέρνεται λικνιστικά
μες στα χλωρά τριφύλλια
Κι αν γύρω σας ακινητούν οι επιτύμβιας στήλες
κι έφιππος ο Δεξίλεως γλεντάει τον θάνατό του,
ακόμα κι αν σας συγκινεί μονάχα η τέχνη της σιωπής,
δώσετε λίγη προσοχή
στο θαύμα που ζωγράφισε ὁ Θεός πάνω στο καύκαλό της,
μα πιο πολύ,
στο πείσμα της αδιάφορη να οδεύει προς τους τάφους.

THE KERAMEIKOS TORTOISE
If you are lucky, like me,
and find yourselves in April among the graves of Kerameikos,
all of a sudden you may see her
swishing and swaying
through the green shamrocks.
And if the grave steles around you stay still
and if Dexileos on his horse revels in his death,
even if you are moved by the art of silence only,
pay a little attention to
the miracle God painted on her carapace,
yet even more
her stubborn, indifferent crawling to the graves.
